Boise Metro Rotary held their annual backpack drive
The crew at Boise Metro Rotary held their annual backpack drive for 5th grade students at Garfield Elementary School in Boise. Members gathered supplies from the Boise School District list and met up to stuff 20 warrantied and ready-to-go backpacks while member Dan McCown made homemade salsa, guacamole and margaritas (a must for backpack packing). The club collaborates with Boise Sunrise to support Garfield students who are enrolled in Everyday Leadership, a program that partners with the Treasure Valley YMCA to teach low income 5th and 6th graders leadership, confidence and self-advocacy with impressive success rates.

This drive was part of Boise Metro’s quarterly drive program, where the club focuses on gathering in-kind or monetary donations for a new beneficiary every three months. Last quarter they gathered old cell phones and tablets to raise money for Everyday Leadership through Phones 4 Charity. If you’re looking to implement an almost effortless fundraiser with your club, this is a great way to do it. Learn more here: http://www.phones4charity.org/
