Carl Nellis Remembered
I attended the Memorial for Carl Hansen Nellis at Niagara Springs WMA on July 30, 2022.  Carl was a member of the Rotary Club of Jerome.  Carl was truly loved and admired in the Jerome and surrounding communities.

I met Carl on a couple of occasions, so I did not know Carl well.  However, I do know that Carl and his wife, Jane, are some of the kindest and most caring people I know.  Through giving to the Rotary Foundation, Carl and Jane have made tangible differences in people lives.  Carl set up an endowment to honor is Mother, Lucille Nellis.  This fund helps children and adults to learn to read.  Carl knew that once you learn to read, you can read to learn.  He also was the District’s biggest supporter of our Polio Plus Program to eliminate polio from the face of the earth.  Carl not only gave but encouraged other Rotarians to give with phenomenal results.

It was my sense that Carl was a humble man and did seek to be recognized for his good deeds.  I’m not certain we know or understand the level of his commitment to others less fortunate, but his impact was substantial.  Carl Nellis was someone that I admired and hope that I can follow his example.  I am blessed to have known this fine man.
