It’s been 10 years since the Rotary Club of Eagle/Garden City’s last visioning workshop. And given changes in membership and opportunities available to Rotary, club president Fred Devlin decided it was time to bring in the big guns — Charles Weymouth, Terry Gilbert and Dawn Hickman —to guide us in envisioning where our club wanted to be in three years.

Our motivation to setting and achieving goals was further bolstered by district celebration recognition of progress our club is already making. We were awarded a bronze in membership retention, a silver in annual giving to the Rotary Foundation, a gold for our participation in the Rotary Youth Exchange, and the club public image chair of the year for member Natalie Chavez. So on June 1, 13 of our 23 members met to do the hard work of figuring out where we’re heading and how to get there.

We stretched ourselves to push past what we’re doing now and aim high. Flipcharts overflowed with ideas, and our next step is to condense those ideas into a workable plan and to create an action plan. We are all very excited with the challenges and opportunities ahead of us!
