From the Governor's Desk
Welcome to the 2022-2023 rotary year!
Congratulation to all the new and renewing 2022-2023 Rotary leaders!  Changing of the guard, passing the baton, and installation ceremony are just a few of the terms and events that represent each new Rotary year.  While reflecting on the transition in roles and the excitement of what’s new, I also think about the great things we celebrate in Rotary that continue, such as our focus on people and on service.

The people of Rotary and the service initiatives are both powerful and sweet ingredients in the recipe of community impact.  When good people connect, great things happen - and they are happening all across District 5400 and beyond.  You are providing care and compassion for people, feeding families, building homes, parks, bikes, and trails; you are promoting peace, fighting disease, supporting education and leadership, growing economies and so much more.  Your impact is tremendous and there are many stories to tell.

To tell those stories and promote the impact of Rotary, District 5400 is developing a Public Image strategy and implementation plan, to promote the impact of Rotary and encourage others to join.  This plan includes engaging a marketing agency and working with our Clubs service and public image leaders.  Imagine how the history and traditions of Rotary may be used as the foundation to innovate, to raise our voices, to expand our profile and partnerships across our region.  It’s bound to be fun!

It’s a pleasure to serve with each of you.  The way you spend your days, is the way you spend your life. Thanks for spending your days with Rotary.

Peace,
Janice Fulkerson

11:30am-3:00pm
Rotary's 11 Annual Ice Cream Funday will take place Saturday, July 23 from 11:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. in Twin Falls City Park. Nineteen companies worked with Cloverleaf Creamery in Buhl, ID to create and name their own ice cream flavor. This is the "Iron Chef" of ice cream. No one has ever tried these flavors before! The winner will be Cloverleaf Creamery's August flavor of the month.

Attendees will vote on the best flavor and name. This event is in conjunction with Art in the Park and follows Kids Art in the Park. There will be live music from Crazy Love. Tickets are $10 for adults/ $5 kids 11 and under and are available at the door.

Dairy West has sponsored the ice cream, Plant Therapy has donated the water and Middlekauf and Apollo Inn are sponsors of the event. All proceeds will go to Rotary and its community project of rebuilding the restrooms at Frontier Park.

Robert Burns wrote that “The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” And that Burns' quote best characterizes this year for the Eagle-Garden City Rotary Club! We had challenges, and yet we committed to exemplifying "service above self," making the most of our 25th birthday and meeting our goals.
