Rotary has seven important focus areas; our newest one, Environment-Sustainability, needs some special attention as all the others depend upon the environment. To promote this focus, we have two requests.
Our parent group, the Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group (ESRAG) was formed to empower members of the Rotary Family to take actions that will sustain our environment, particularly to stabilize our climate. Rotary International President Elect, Stephanie Urchick, will keynote on Becoming Climate Friendly and Sustainable on Saturday August 26.

We would like to help your members become more aware of the seventh Rotary focus. Please show this two minute introductory video during a convenient meeting sometime in the next few weeks.
We know you don’t need another responsibility, so we are asking that you identify a club member to serve as your club’s Environmental liaison. This person is encouraged to join our monthly ESAT meetings but is not obligated to do so. We ask that that person be given a minute or so each week to make a short public service announcement or equivalent space in your club email or newsletter. ESAT members will provide one or more suggested messages that will be a mix of information, questions, challenges, and humor. Our hope is that these will prompt conversation or stimulate curiosity around the environment. Here are just a few examples:
-
Here are five tips to ensure the safety of our homes and businesses from wildfire …

Rotary’s seventh focus is environmental sustainability. Here are six possible projects for your club.

Experts say this global warming is serious, and they are predicting that by the year 2050, we will be out of party ice.
We will follow up with your club for the name of the person who will act as your ESAT liaison. In lieu of finding an ESAT liaison, would you or your club Secretary be willing to read a short passage from ESAT each week?
ESAT can also help your club fill out your presentation calendar. Our next email will have several options for environmental stewardship focused presentations.
Thank you for your interest and time.
In service and with appreciation,
and the Idaho ESAT Team
