From the Governor's Desk
welcome april!
April 2022 is upon us. For me, April means Spring, flowers, gorgeous weather, baseball, my broken March Madness bracket, picnics, outdoor activities – it’s just a really excellent month!
April also marks Maternal and Child Health month for Rotary which spotlights Rotary projects around the world that expand access to quality care, so mothers and their children can live and grow stronger. Nearly 6 million children under the age of five die each year because of malnutrition, poor health care, and inadequate sanitation.
The Rotary Foundation and you are making a difference in the lives of countless mothers and children! Thank you, for all that you do.
On another note, our District Celebration is next month. I look forward to seeing you there.
Have fun and support a great Rotary cause at the same time!! Mark your calendars for Wednesday May 4th for a fun Rotary Night at the Zoo! Boise Sunrise Rotary will again partner with Zoo Boise to host a fundraiser for a Rotary Global Grant supporting the communities surrounding Gorongosa National Park in Mozambique.
The Rotary Night provides Rotarians and their friends and family the opportunity to take in Zoo Boise as a private audience. The recently opened Gorongosa Exhibit brings several new species to Boise that are native to Gorongosa including baboons, nyala antelope, Nile crocodiles and wild painted dogs.
Educational presentations from Boise State researchers studying in Gorongosa and Boise State students from Gorongosa will also be featured. Tickets will be available for purchase in advance and at the door.
Boise SW Rotary Club is hosting a unique fund raising event in partnership with the Boise High School Band to raise funds to support the Boise SW Rotary Foundation and support the Boise HS Band program.
Tickets will be sold for $40
The Boise SW Rotary Foundation's grant program supports needs in our community. Much of the club's grants have gone to aid low-income and underprivileged school programs and their families.

Lots of Rotarians have shown up the last couple of months to bring the Wetland Peace Preserve closer to our vision. In February, volunteers planted riparian cuttings and wrapped trees, while March found Rotarians weeding and mulching the saplings we had planted last fall. On another track, the WPP advisory committee is preparing for the city approval process.
