From the Governor's Desk
is it may already?
Is it May already? I'd like to thank April for taking the brunt of mother nature so that we can enjoy all of the outdoor activities planned in Sun Valley!
May is also Rotary's designated Youth Service Month. It's true that the children born today will be our leaders tomorrow, but it's not all on them. Every interaction, every teaching moment and every kindness that we demonstrate; they all make an impression on those young creative minds.
We've seen so many RYLA and RYE successes come out of our district, and it's all because of your desire to create a better tomorrow. Thank you for finding so much value in this that you've consistently dedicated your own time and efforts to making sure these programs continue. The impact you make is beyond comprehension.
I've been patiently awaiting May's arrival because with it brings both our District Celebration and Rotarians together after such a long absence. I am ecstatic to catch up with all of you! Until then, my friends.
Have fun and support a great Rotary cause at the same time!! Mark your calendars for Wednesday May 4th for a fun Rotary Night at the Zoo! Boise Sunrise Rotary will again partner with Zoo Boise to host a fundraiser for a Rotary Global Grant supporting the communities surrounding Gorongosa National Park in Mozambique.
The Rotary Night provides Rotarians and their friends and family the opportunity to take in Zoo Boise as a private audience. The recently opened Gorongosa Exhibit brings several new species to Boise that are native to Gorongosa including baboons, nyala antelope, Nile crocodiles and wild painted dogs.
Educational presentations from Boise State researchers studying in Gorongosa and Boise State students from Gorongosa will also be featured. Tickets will be available for purchase in advance and at the door.
Boise SW Rotary Club is hosting a unique fund raising event in partnership with the Boise High School Band to raise funds to support the Boise SW Rotary Foundation and support the Boise HS Band program.
Tickets will be sold for $40
The Boise SW Rotary Foundation's grant program supports needs in our community. Much of the club's grants have gone to aid low-income and underprivileged school programs and their families.
