Boise Sunrise supports the warming shelter in Downtown Boise
Every month, the Rotary Club of Boise Sunrise collects a weekly donation from members at our Tuesday morning meeting and designates these funds for one particular cause. This is called our “Center of the Table” donation and in January, these funds were sent to a collaborative project that was labelled the “Warming Shelter”. These donations normally amount to ~$400-$500.

The warming shelter was created as a temporary facility by the efforts of Corpus Christi House and Interfaith Sanctuary. It was meant to be a COVID compliant facility where guests could spend 2-3 hours indoors and enjoy a cup of coffee while getting out of the cold. Participation was limited to support COVID guidelines and guests signed up for a time slot. The facility that was used was a unique one when a charter school moved to a new location and thus left a vacant building. Boise Sunrise was informed that what was needed were coffee supplies. The picture below shows John Lodal of BSRC delivering the check to the team at Interfaith Sanctuary.

At Boise Sunrise, we have a motto of Seeking to Leave it Better Than We Found It. A warm cup of coffee inside and out of the cold was how we manifested that motto in January 2021.
