How to Invest the Reward Money?
As many of you know, District 5400's entry, "Capture Pollution before it Escapes", took first place in Rotary International's "I Fix the Planet" video contest!   Congratulations to the team, and THANK YOU again to all Rotarians, friends, and family who voted for our entry.

Now, we have a new challenge: decide how to invest the approximately $1,000 in reward money.  Do you have an environmental stewardship project/program in mind for your Club or the Clubs in your area that needs some funding?  If so, please let us know, because we want to ensure the money follows D5400 Rotary energy and enthusiasm.  And, don't forget, any worthy project will help your Club earn Earth Stewardship Certification.

Here are some possibilities:
  • Create a habitat improvement project with a local resource management agency
  • Start a program to reduce food waste going to your local landfill
  • Establish a special pollinator garden
  • Find a solution or activity in Project Drawdown, the inspiration for Capture Pollution. ESRAG has a large team ready to help you. Go to ESRAGClimate for ideas.
  • Wander through ESRAG's 3-D Convention Center for ideas. Here are instructions if you're new to Frame

Please email laurie.zuckerman@esrag.org (D5400 REST Chair) with your proposed project by Sept 1st.   Also, feel free to join the REST team meeting on Sept 13th at 7 PM, where we will be discussing these ideas.
