The Boise Hive

At Boise Sunrise, we seek to partner with effective non-profits throughout the Treasure Valley and around the globe. These organizations are doing terrific work and we are proud to support this life changing work. As any philanthropic organization understands, we are very interested in the impact of this financial support.

The Boise Hive is a perfect example of this and here is a summary of projects that have been completed at The Boise Hive because of the support from the club. We are working to leave it better than we found it and we are striving to effectively embody Service Above Self. Bravo to the Boise Hive!

And here are the main projects completed because of support from Boise Sunrise Rotary:

1.  ADA compliance project (Summer of 2018)  –  Compliance was achieved with a bathroom remodel, new door handles and a parking lot tweak.  Becoming ADA compliant opened the door for The Boise Hive to apply for state and Federal grants.  The largest grant received after becoming ADA compliant was one from the National Endowment of the Arts in 2022 for $100,000. We have used the ADA compliance effort results to help on every government grant application; city, state and federal (12 in total) since the ADA changes were made. This was a key project!

2.  MultiMedia Room build (Summer 2019) – This project converted an empty room into the Multimedia Room.  The goal was to create a room musicians could rent at low cost to make DIY videos, band posters, and to create music.  We also needed a room for educational classes for both youth and adults.  This funding led to a grant from the City of Boise for a multi-camera internet streaming system.  It made the series ‘Live at the Hive’ possible which has now streamed over 300 local acts on Saturday night with full lights, camera and sound.  The Live at Boise Hive program provides a safe and sober place for hundreds of volunteers, bands and audience members to enjoy all types of music.

3. Raise the Roof (2020) – The roof was leaking so bad it created mold and became unsafe.  A member of Boise Sunrise Rotary stepped up and matched funds up to $10,000.  The “Raise the Roof” fundraiser brought in approximately $36,000 and we then contracted the rebuild of the new roof.  The new roof and subsequent mold abatement has kept Boise Hive and its occupants safe and dry ever since.

4.  Sound wall for the counseling room (Spring 2022)

5.  New flooring project (Fall 2023)
