Eduardo Homrich Garcia, a Rotary Exchange student from Brazil, and currently living in Emmett, competed at the local and state levels of the Western Idaho Science & Engineering Fair at Boise State University March 15 and was awarded in several categories.  His entry, Project Atlantis, was judged superior by judges from the Genius Olympiad which earned him a trip to New York City in June for the National Genius Olympiad competition.

His experiments’ essential motive was to test the increase of water level in different types of environments and the rate of absorption of a variety of soils.  These established comparisons with current events and research were to provide a basis for opening the eyes of the public on the environmental issue of sea-level rising.

Eduardo is a senior at Emmett High School and currently lives with Dottie and Terry Jones.
