Fellow District 5400 Rotarians,
I had a meeting last evening with the DG from District 5280, Albert Hernandez, regarding the impacts of the LA fires on their members. At this time, he reported that every member of the Rotary Club of Pacific Palisades has lost their home. Their district is still gathering information on their other clubs.
He also reported that the donations of goods from Rotarians from around the west has been overwhelming. At this time people are trying to find temporary housing, and in some cases also need a vehicle.
The real needs will be in the future when the big donation centers close down and the news media stops running stories. The recommendation is to think about making a monetary donation to either the District 5280 or 5300 foundations which have set up special sites for collections.
