🚂All Aboard the Rotary Train

I have been asked several times why I chose the train as my logo for this Rotary year. Simple. I love trains, I love hearing their whistles blow, watching them go by and knowing they are either transporting people or products that people need. Fascination comes to mind – where are they going and why?

Leadership in Rotary is a lot like guiding a train. But, unlike a corporate locomotive, ours is powered by volunteers – people who choose to serve, not because they have to, but because they believe in the journey.

In Rotary, the leader (at every level) is the engine BUT the energy comes from every car (club) behind it. Each club member carries something essential: skills, passion and a commitment to “Service Above Self.”

And, just like a train, we move best when we’re connected – through communication, collaboration, and a shared vision.

Our tracks are Rotary’s values: integrity, fellowship, diversity and service. When the tracks are clear, we gain momentum. When obstacles appear – be it membership challenges, community needs, or unexpected change – Rotary leaders don’t stop the train. They adapt, they encourage, and they keep the train moving forward.

Rotary leadership isn’t about being out front, it’s about bringing people with you. It’s about making sure every car (club) stays connected, every member feels valued and every community we serve becomes part of the journey.

In Rotary, leadership isn’t a title. It’s a responsibility. It’s a privilege. And, it’s a chance to help the entire train reach destinations that matter – one project, one club, one act of service at a time.

I invite you to be a part of this year’s Rotary adventure and hope you will enjoy the ride! As we travel together, be sure to secure your ticket for our upcoming annual conference, taking place May 29-30, 2026, at the new Holiday Inn in Idaho Falls. To make this event a success, we are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to serve as car “attendants.” There are several ways you can contribute, including helping with registration, organizing silent auction items, assisting with decorations, and welcoming guests as part of our hospitality team.

Tickets will be available starting in mid-March. Please keep an eye out for further details in the District Bulletin and on the District 5400 website so you don’t miss your chance to join us.

All Aboard for Rotary!
