For the second year, District 5400 Rotarians will have the incredible opportunity to travel to Peru and make a tangible difference through humanitarian work. Of course, it’s not all work — there will be plenty of fun, sightseeing, and fellowship, offering a chance to build deeper Rotary connections while exploring one of the world’s most fascinating countries.
Last year’s Rotary team of 20 achieved remarkable results, including:
- Planting 5,000 trees in the high Andes mountains while visiting world famous Machu Picchu
- Delivering 12 wheelchairs to a Lima hospital
- Providing musical instruments and scholarships to a music school in Cusco
- Awarding $4,000 to a cancer recovery center for site improvements
- Outfitting a primary school with backpacks
- Launching a $45,000 Global Grant to purchase 10 critical need baby monitors to save infant lives
This year’s trip is budgeted at $3,500, which covers:
- $1,000 toward two major humanitarian projects
- Roundtrip airfare to Peru
- Housing and local transportation
- Domestic flights within the country
