Greater Boise Rotary Foundation Awards $25,000 To Life’s Kitchen For Delivery Van

The Greater Boise Rotary Foundation is excited to announce the recipient of the $25,000 grant to Life’s Kitchen to purchase a new delivery van.

The Greater Boise Rotary Foundation (GBRF) was established in 1984 by a group of local Rotary members who created an endowment fund to support area non-profits. Currently, eight Ada County Rotary Clubs contribute to the foundation, and make decisions about grant applications. In 2025, the clubs formed a partnership with the Idaho Community Foundation to manage the endowment.

Since it was founded 41 years ago, the Greater Boise Rotary Foundation has awarded  $550,000 of support to Ada County non-profits. Recent large grant recipients include Boys & Girls Club of Ada County, Jesse Tree, Girls on the Run and Genesis Community Health.

“We are happy to support the work of Life’s Kitchen to transform the lives of young adults by providing training in food service and life skills,” said Todd Fischer, GBRF chair. “We are happy to support an organization that is helping to educate our future workforce.”

Boise-based Life’s Kitchen provides a space where young adults can access educational resources, tools, and opportunities they need to enhance their self-worth, live independently, and realize their full potential.  Over the years, Life’s Kitchen has provided over 600,000 hours of job training to more than 960 young adults, while providing more than 1,400,000 meals to community members in need.

The current delivery van is used to deliver meals to community members in need. With 107,000 miles on a rebuilt engine, the current delivery van needs to be replaced.

After receiving the check, Life’s Kitchen Executive Director Tammy Johnson responded “The grant from Greater Boise Rotary Foundation is phenomenal. The funding to replace our old and worn-out catering van is crucial for our businesses and training! We cannot thank them enough for this amazing grant!”

Rotary is a global network of more than 1.2 million members who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves. Solving real problems takes real commitment and vision.

GBRF is currently seeking grant applications for projects ranging from $500-$2,500. The deadline is March 16. Click here to learn more about GBRF, please see
