I am working to find placements for two of our incoming YSEALI Professional Fellows coming this month. We have a great group coming in, and I am hosting five professionals virtually who were unable to obtain their visas. We are still in need of one professional fellowship host and one homestay host for our Fall YSEALI Fellows, and time is getting tight with their arrival in Boise on September 26.
As of Sunday, Sept 1,here are our needs:
Fellowship Co-Host (Sept 29 – Oct 24, 2025 – Appy from Malaysia, a primary school history teacher and Head of the History Panel, already has a schedule started with co-host Sara Skinner. He needs a U.S. workplace to complete his professional exchange. It can be for part or all of the 4-week fellowship.
Homestay Host (Sept 26 – Oct 25, 2025 ) – Izzah from Brunei, Head of Special Education and Inclusive Classes, loves cooking and the outdoors. She has a dog fur allergy (cats okay) and is comfortable with children (her bio is incorrect). She is also the sister of my fellowship host while I was in Brunie and a part of “my Brunie Family”. Her professional host is Shayna Speetjens with the STEP program at the Boise School District. This can be for part or all of the 4 weeks and does come with a modest $10/day stipend.
About the program

The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative Professional Fellows Program (YSEALI PFP) is a U.S. Department of State program designed to build leadership, strengthen ties between the United States and Southeast Asia, and foster people-to-people diplomacy.
This will be the second to last cohort so I am hopeful we can make it the best one yet!
