Peace Fellow Update: Hunter Levy’s First Month at the University of Bradford

Rotary District 5400 Peace Fellow Hunter Levy is settling into his Master’s program in International Development Management at the University of Bradford in the UK. Now four weeks into his studies, Hunter is diving into core coursework and an elective in African Politics and Security, alongside classmates from across the globe. His cohort includes Rotary Peace Fellows, Chevening Scholars, and students from Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and South America—truly reflecting the international reach of Rotary’s peacebuilding mission.

Beyond the classroom, Hunter and his fellow Peace Fellows are strengthening their bonds through shared activities such as community meals, a team-building day, and learning from last year’s Fellows about their Applied Field Experiences. This month, the current cohort will support those same Fellows as they host the annual Bill Huntley Memorial Peace Seminar, a highlight of the Peace Centre’s calendar and an opportunity to showcase the impact of Rotary’s investment in peace education.

Hunter is also immersing himself in campus life. He has joined the University men’s basketball team, the Bradford Kings, and launched the Atlas Film Project, a film series supported by the Peace Studies Department. The project is designed to spark dialogue on culture, conflict, and post-colonial themes through international cinema. The first screening, the Iranian film Taste of Cherry, drew a strong turnout, with more films scheduled before the Christmas break.

Reflecting on his first month, Hunter shares:

“It has been an incredible experience so far, with abundant opportunities to learn, connect with other students and professors, and bring my own experiences into a range of different spaces and environments.”

Rotarians can take pride knowing that our District’s support is helping Hunter and his fellow Peace Fellows gain the skills, networks, and experiences needed to advance peace and development around the world.
