Boise Sunrise Gone Fishing with Koelsch Everyday Leadership Students

Rotarians from Boise Sunrise volunteered recently to help Koelsch 4th and 5th Graders learn to fish.  Some of these students learned new stuff and some were just happy to spend a beautiful day playing hooky from work/school!

Students learned several fundamentals about fishing including “knot tying”, fish species and anatomy, and the all-important skill of casting their line.  Although it was a “bad day” of catching, it is always a good day of fishing, as you can see in these smiling faces.

This was another way for the Rotary Club of Boise Sunrise to leave it better than we found it. We had some terrific laughs while we mentored these students on a skill outside of the classroom. The Everyday Leadership program is thriving at Koelsch Elementary, and now there are a number of nascent fishing experts in this motivated and high-achieving crew of students as well!
