Thinking of Buying an EV? Act Before Sept. 30 to Claim Your Tax Credit

As Rotarians, we believe in Service Above Self, and that includes being good stewards of our environment and our resources. If you’ve been thinking about buying a vehicle, now might be the perfect time to drive electric, not just for yourself, but for your community and the planet we share.

Right now, you can save up to $7,500 off a new EV or $4,000 off a used one—but these incentives will no longer be available after September 30. Making the switch now means putting real money back in your pocket while making a lasting impact.

Electric vehicles (EVs) align beautifully with Rotary’s areas of focus: they promote sustainability, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and support local and national energy independence. Built for reliability, efficiency, and rugged performance, EVs are increasingly affordable and cost far less to maintain. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, EVs are 3 to 4 times more energy efficient than gas-powered vehicles, with fewer moving parts and 50% lower maintenance costs.

Think about it: no oil changes, no spark plugs, no filter swaps—and less time spent at the pump. That means more time to dedicate to your family, your work, and your Rotary service.

Charging is easy. Most EV owners install a Level 2 charger at home, which uses the same voltage as your dryer and charges overnight when electricity is cheapest. That’s convenience that saves both time and money.

Worried about reliability or range? According to EV Design & Manufacturing, EVs now boast lifespans of around 18 years, with most issues being minor and easily addressed under warranty. And a recent report by Atlas Public Policy shows EVs beat gas vehicles in total cost of ownership in almost every case.

Still have questions? Come to one of the upcoming EV Car Shows in Southern Idaho and talk directly with EV owners and experts:

Whether you’re looking to lower your carbon footprint, save on fuel and maintenance, or support innovation and sustainability. EVs are a smart long-term investment that reflects the Rotarian commitment to building a better future.

Let’s lead by example. Drive electric. Serve the planet.
